PRODUCT OVERVIEW

F. Ball Stopgap 300

Description

Product Overview

F. Ball Stopgap 300 is a cementitious, self-smoothing compound for preparing internal floors exposed to demanding traffic and loading conditions.

Its strength makes it suitable beneath flooring in busy commercial environments, including hospitals, schools, retail premises and airport terminals. The smooth finish also helps reduce the risk of subfloor imperfections showing through thin resilient floorcoverings such as luxury vinyl tiles.

Stopgap 300 can be applied over a range of suitably prepared substrates, including concrete, sand/cement screeds, calcium sulphate screeds, sound asphalt, terrazzo, ceramic tiles and compatible resin surfaces.

Where a floorcovering is not required, it can form a wearing surface in areas such as storerooms, workshops and warehouses. This application requires the dedicated wearing-surface preparation and installation procedure.

Key Features

  • Self-smoothing formulation for an even floor finish
  • Designed for light to heavy-duty internal applications
  • Standard application thickness of 2–15mm unfilled
  • Can be extended to 20mm with Stopgap Graded Aggregate
  • Suitable for manual or pump application
  • Mixes with clean water
  • Protein-free formulation
  • Low odour
  • Suitable over prepared absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors
  • Can be used as a wearing surface with a minimum 5mm thickness
  • EC1 Plus very low-emission classification
  • Supplied in 25kg bags

Applications

  • Smoothing concrete and screed before floorcovering installation
  • Preparing subfloors beneath vinyl sheet and luxury vinyl tiles
  • Subfloor preparation for suitable timber flooring systems
  • Commercial flooring in hospitals, schools and retail premises
  • Floors subject to frequent pedestrian traffic and heavy loads
  • Refurbishment over suitable existing tiles, terrazzo and resin surfaces
  • Internal wearing surfaces in storerooms, workshops and warehouses

Notes

  • Prepare a sound, dry substrate and remove contaminants, laitance and incompatible treatments
  • Prime absorbent substrates with diluted Stopgap P131
  • Use neat Stopgap P141 on suitable non-absorbent substrates; calcium sulphate screeds require the specified P121 system
  • Allow primer to dry before applying the compound
  • Add powder gradually to measured water and mechanically mix for at least two minutes
  • Do not exceed the stated water limit
  • Spread with a smoothing trowel and use a spiked roller to release trapped air
  • For a wearing surface, follow the separate priming procedure and maintain at least 5mm thickness
  • Follow the current technical data sheet for moisture control, underfloor heating and site-temperature requirements
