ARDEX P38
Description
Product Overview
ARDEX P 38 is a single-component dispersion primer that penetrates concrete to suppress residual capillary moisture before floor levelling.
Applied by roller in two coats, it provides a straightforward preparation system for suitable green concrete slabs. ARDEX levelling compounds can generally be applied after approximately 2.5 hours under normal conditions.
Each 11kg container covers up to 69m², depending on substrate porosity. The product carries an EC1 Plus emission classification.
Key Features
- Single-component formulation
- Controls residual capillary moisture
- Designed for internal concrete floors
- Two-coat roller application
- No sand broadcasting beneath ARDEX levellers
- No additional primer required before compatible ARDEX levelling compounds
- EC1 Plus emission classification
Applications
- Residual moisture control in internal green concrete slabs
- Concrete preparation before ARDEX floor levelling
- Suitable radiant or hydronic heated concrete substrates within the specified moisture limit
Notes
- Test concrete moisture in accordance with AS 1884 and confirm readings are falling
- Mechanically prepare concrete to a sound, clean, open porous surface
- Remove contaminants and vacuum thoroughly; do not acid etch or use solvents
- Do not apply below 10°C
- Shake the container thoroughly before use
- Apply with a short nap roller, avoiding puddles
- Dilute the first coat with equal parts water and apply 60–75g/m² of diluted material
- Allow the first coat to dry for at least 30 minutes
- Apply the second coat undiluted at 100–120g/m² using crosswise roller passes
- Allow the final coat to dry for at least 2 hours before levelling
- Install the levelling compound within 72 hours; if exceeded, sand and apply another undiluted coat
- Clean tools promptly with soapy water
