PRODUCT OVERVIEW

MOZART C80 WELD TRIMMER

Description

Product Overview

The MOZART C80 Weld Trimmer is a professional skiving knife designed to trim excess weld rod and welding wire from heat-welded resilient sheet flooring.

Its cutting principle allows the underside of the blade assembly to track across the floorcovering, with the surface of the flooring determining the final cutting level. This helps reduce the risk of cutting into or damaging the finished floor while producing a consistent seam.

The tool uses a two-stage trimming process. During the first pass, the selected spacer guide is swung beneath the blade to leave a controlled amount of weld material above the floor. The guide is then swung out for the second pass, allowing the remaining weld material to be trimmed flush with the floorcovering.

A 0.5mm spacer guide is included for most PVC flooring applications, together with a 0.7mm guide generally used for linoleum welding wire. The correct guide should always be selected according to the floorcovering and weld-material manufacturer’s instructions.

The integrated swivelling guides eliminate the need for a separate trimming plate. Its ergonomic one-handed design also allows installers to work with long, controlled strokes while maintaining a more natural working position.

Key Features

  • Designed for trimming heat-welded PVC and linoleum seams
  • Controlled two-stage pre-cut and final-trim process
  • Includes 0.5mm and 0.7mm swivelling spacer guides
  • 0.5mm guide typically used for PVC weld rod
  • 0.7mm guide typically used for linoleum welding wire
  • Integrated spacer guide eliminates the need for a separate guide plate
  • Blade assembly tracks across the floorcovering to help produce an even cutting level
  • Helps reduce the risk of damaging the finished floorcovering
  • Pre-cut helps release tension within the heated weld material
  • Helps minimise deformation and concave seam finishes
  • Replaceable trimming blade eliminates the need for manual sharpening
  • Ergonomic one-handed operation
  • Suitable for long, controlled trimming strokes
  • Supplied in a protective hard case
  • Made in Germany

Applications

  • Trimming heat-welded PVC sheet flooring seams
  • Trimming linoleum welding-wire seams
  • Pre-cutting excess weld rod before final trimming
  • Final flush trimming of resilient flooring weld seams
  • Commercial vinyl sheet flooring installations
  • Commercial linoleum sheet flooring installations
  • Repair and replacement work involving heat-welded seams

Notes

  • Complete the heat-welded seam in accordance with the floorcovering and weld-material manufacturer’s instructions
  • Select the appropriate spacer guide for the flooring and welding material being trimmed
  • Use the 0.5mm guide for most PVC-on-PVC weld applications unless otherwise specified
  • Use the 0.7mm guide for most linoleum welding-wire applications unless otherwise specified
  • Ensure a sharp compatible trimming blade is correctly installed and securely fastened
  • For the first pass, swing the selected spacer guide into position beneath the blade
  • Place the tool flat against the floorcovering and follow the centre of the welded seam
  • Use a smooth, controlled stroke to remove the upper section of weld material
  • The spacer guide will leave approximately 0.5mm or 0.7mm of weld material above the floor, according to the selected guide
  • Follow the floorcovering manufacturer’s instructions regarding cooling time before completing the final trim
  • For the second pass, swing the spacer guide out of the cutting position
  • Keep the underside of the tool flat against the flooring and trim the remaining material flush with the surface
  • Avoid tipping or twisting the tool, as this may produce an uneven cut
  • Replace a blunt or damaged blade rather than attempting to sharpen it
  • Keep hands and fingers clear of the exposed cutting edge when using or servicing the tool
  • Remove weld debris after use and store the trimmer and guides in the supplied hard case

The 0.5mm and 0.7mm guides control the height of the first cut; they are not alternative final trimming depths. After the pre-cut has been completed, the guide is swung away and the remaining weld material is trimmed level with the floorcovering.

The pre-cut helps release tension created within the weld material during heating and reduces deformation during the final cut. This supports a smoother finished seam and helps prevent the concave result that may occur when the complete weld is removed in one pass.

The 0.5mm guide is the most commonly used option for PVC flooring and PVC weld rod. The 0.7mm guide is generally preferred for linoleum welding wire, although the correct guide and trimming procedure must be confirmed against the flooring manufacturer’s instructions.

Compatible replacement blades, individual 0.5mm and 0.7mm guides, and replacement fixing components are available separately.
