Portamix Deep Sled Gauge Rake
Description
Product Overview
The Portamix Deep Sled Gauge Rake is a heavy-duty adjustable rake developed for placing cementitious self-levelling compounds, refurbishment overlays and decorative toppings at a consistent depth.
Its all-steel frame uses two continuous, weld-free circular runners rather than traditional sleds with welded contact points. This removes a common potential break point and makes the rake suitable for demanding jobsite use and heavier cementitious pours.
The perfectly circular runners provide true multi-angle depth control. The rake can be pushed, pulled or tilted around walls, columns and penetrations while maintaining the selected application height.
The depth can be adjusted from 3–50mm, allowing the same rake to be used for thin self-levelling applications through to deeper refurbishment and fill systems.
With a working width of approximately 600mm, the Deep Sled Gauge Rake helps distribute fresh flooring material efficiently while maintaining consistent build control across the floor.
Key Features

- Maintains the selected depth when pushed, pulled or tilted
- Suitable for deeper builds and heavier cementitious materials
- Designed for demanding commercial jobsite conditions
- Allows controlled application around walls, columns and penetrations
- Adjustable design suits multiple flooring-system thicknesses
Applications
- Cementitious self-levelling underlayments
- Floor smoothing and levelling compounds
- Medium-to-deep refurbishment overlays
- Deep-fill cementitious flooring systems
- Decorative cementitious toppings
- Industrial cementitious flooring systems
- Heavier material placement applications
- Flooring systems requiring controlled depths from 3–50mm
- Commercial and industrial floor preparation projects
Notes
- Confirm the required application thickness against the flooring-material manufacturer’s technical data
- Adjust both circular sled runners equally to the required depth before placing material
- Check the rake setting on a flat reference surface to ensure both sides are level
- Ensure all adjustment points and fasteners are securely tightened before use
- Attach the operating pole securely to the central pole mount
- Place the self-levelling or overlay material according to the manufacturer’s instructions
- Move the rake through the fresh material using smooth, controlled passes
- The rake may be pushed, pulled or tilted when working around walls and penetrations
- Maintain consistent movement to distribute the material evenly across the 600mm working width
- Only continue raking while the material remains within its stated working time
- Do not use the rake to apply material outside the flooring product’s approved thickness range
- Inspect the runners and adjustment components regularly for wear, damage or hardened material
- Clean the rake and circular runners immediately after use before material hardens
